HR Generalist
The HR Generalist will execute a variety of tasks within the Human Resource division, including recruiting, orientation, benefits, employee recognition program, wellness program, performance evaluations, compensation, and employee relations. The position will act as an initial contact between employees and the human resource division, providing support and guidance to employees and managers with concerns or questions on HR policies, union contracts and programs. Skills and Requirements:
- Complete a variety of recruitment activities such as generate the job application, seek approval for open position hiring, advertise job openings, post job ads, screen applicants, complete background checks, conduct reference checks, sort criteria assessment, update applicant status data, assess union contract status, produce offer letters, and set up orientation and start dates.
- Prepare for new hire orientation by collecting appropriate documents, announcing new hire through communication channels, and entering information into human resource information systems; conduct new hire on-boarding program and the initial orientation briefing including discussion about performance evaluations, benefits education, policies, procedures and career development.
- Provide guidance and expertise regarding organization HR policies and procedures to staff, supervisors and managers; maintain and update position control, employee and staff information lists, employee files, electronic and paper-based copies; enter and acquire approval signatures for personnel action forms, enter payroll changes into HRIS.
- Manage and coordinate FMLA, track FMLA usage, answer FMLA questions from employees and supervisors; Maintain OSHA incident reports and coordinate worker's comp injury claims; manage unemployment claims; create annual EEOC report.
- Complete monthly benefit bill reconciliations, contact vendors to identify reasons for unbalanced accounts; maintain and oversee employee wellness and recognition programs. Manage Wellness Committee and Employee Recognition Committee.
- Organize the annual employee benefits fair and manage the annual open enrollment process; post notifications according to law and union contracts.
- Process employee terminations; ensure required termination steps are properly followed.
