Laborer

The role involves general grounds maintenance and the upkeep of all areas, including the exterior of buildings and roadways. Responsibilities include performing tasks requiring mainly physical abilities and effort, involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. This includes loading and unloading trucks and other conveyances, moving supplies and materials to proper locations using wheelbarrows or hand trucks, stacking materials for storage or binning, collecting refuse and salvageable materials, digging, filling, and tamping earth excavations; leveling ground using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake, shoveling concrete and snow; cleaning culverts and ditches; cutting trees and brush, operating power lawnmowers; cleaning gutters and roofs; removing carpet/vinyl flooring. May also be assigned as flagger or fire watch if trained and certified. Additional tasks include moving and arranging heavy pieces of material, furniture, equipment, and appliances, spreading sand and deicer on icy roads and walkways; picking up leaves and trash, performing grounds maintenance laborer tasks, assisting in the spill response team, obtaining and maintaining asbestos certification for the purpose of removing asbestos, and performing other related duties as assigned. May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to accomplish the work assignment.

Essential skills include general labor, general maintenance, janitorial, laborer, clean up, construction, production, hand tool, power tool, cleaning, loading, and landscaping.

Additional skills and qualifications include a high school education or equivalent, possession and maintenance of a valid state issued driver's license with a good driving record, meeting and maintaining company physical and security requirements, including clearance eligibility when required, ability to lift 50 pounds, and good communication skills for a service team environment.

Work environment: This position is based at a Naval Base, requiring adherence to specific security and physical standards. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, and safety equipment may be necessary.

Job type and location: This is a contract position based out of Bremerton, Washington.

Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $24.41 - $24.41/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
