At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. The Blue Ring program is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, developing innovative satellite systems to address the challenges of space mobility and infrastructure. As we grow our Flight Software team, we are seeking skilled, collaborative engineers to join us in making a direct impact on pioneering uncrewed spacecraft systems. As an Embedded Flight Software Engineer III, you will play a core role defining, implementing, and testing flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft, working in partnership with multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will help translate system and mission requirements into robust, soft-RTOS embedded C++ software, and contribute to test and automation infrastructure that ensures mission reliability and product excellence. In this mid-career position, you'll have opportunities to develop new spacecraft capabilities, provide technical guidance to early-career engineers, and expand your expertise by collaborating across avionics hardware and mission operations, including hands-on involvement in build and test phases. You will be empowered to exercise ownership, greater technical independence, and make significant contributions to both flight products and mission-unique applications. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, strong communication/collaboration skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision are required! Preferred Qualifications: B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, related field, or equivalent experience. 6+ years of experience working across the full embedded software stack, including defining and verifying low-level software structure, drivers, inter process communication, and scheduling. Demonstrated software development and debugging skills in low-latency, multi-process embedded systems, especially using C++. Familiarity with embedded avionics networking (OSI model, transport/data link layers, Ethernet, IP, UDP/TCP/SCTP, CCSDS or other Radio networking protocols). Experience in several phases of the embedded software lifecycle, including requirements definition, design and analysis, implementation, verification, integration, and qualification. Experience working in collaborative development and test environments using containers and Python. Strong software/hardware integration and troubleshooting skills. Experience working on multi-component, complex avionics for spacecraft, aircraft, or similar systems. Ability to provide informal technical guidance or mentorship to less-experienced colleagues. Effective communication skills with peers, technical leadership, and cross-discipline partners. Active or ability to acquire/renew clearance. Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with polygraph preferred. Desired: Familiarity working in DevOps environments including CI/CD pipelines and containerized dev environments Experience developing and verifying mission or safety critical embedded software (e.g., NPR 7150.2, DO-178, or similar standards). Experience with spacecraft development and operations, such as proposals, system definition, integration, verification, on-o
