Financial Access Specialist Supervisor

UW Medicine Patient Financial Access Services – Finance Access Clearance Team (FACT) has an outstanding opportunity for a Financial Access Specialist Supervisor. WORK SCHEDULE + 100% FTE (40 hours per week) + Monday - Friday; 0800-1630 + Day Shift + Primarily 100% remote with occasional on-site assignments at UWM based on operational or training needs

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION + The FACT department coordinates the insurance clearance process for Inpatient planned and unplanned admits, for Outpatient Surgery, Clinic Procedures, high dollar Infusion, and/or Radiology high dollar Procedures, as well as, various functions associated with obtaining and verifying the insurance coverage and benefits for facility and professional services. Our team values excellent customer service, timely response, accurate authorization, and courteous processing of calls.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment including resume review, interviews, reference checks, and candidate selection
  • Train, coach, and support new hires; set and communicate clear performance expectations for direct reports
  • Monitor team performance, complete evaluations, and implement corrective actions when needed
  • Manage daily staffing assignments and timecard approvals to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency
  • Conduct team meetings and huddles to drive communication and continuous improvement
  • Resolve escalated issues related to third-party payers, denials, billing, authorizations, and patient concerns
  • Support departmental compliance by maintaining personnel files, reviewing leave requests, and enforcing policies
  • Participate in leadership development, cross-functional projects, and assist with department procedures and reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Four years of experience as a Financial Access Specialist
  • A High School graduation or equivalent and four years' experience as a Financial Access Specialist and a UW Supervisory Skill Certificate may substitute for stated requirements
