The Field Engineer is responsible for the implementation of complex communication system infrastructure and technical support of specialized sub-systems and product applications. This includes troubleshooting software-driven electronics, IP networks, server and network hardware, and performance verification and optimization of RF and broadband architecture including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.
Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to effectively design, implement, optimize, test, cutover, and document advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. Utilizes system design drawings, planners, and product documentation to oversee the onsite installation of network, server, and RF equipment. Provides as-built information for the final system documentation package. Utilizes network design tools, formalized process documents, and customer input to perform onsite and remote configuration of network, server, RF, and databases. Provides as-configured documentation and baseline reports. Utilizes system logs and tools to perform onsite and remote troubleshooting of networks, servers, databases, and RF infrastructure. Verifies system logs and event monitoring applications are clear of any faults. Utilizes product and system test plans to perform acceptance testing. Corrects any deficiencies found during testing. Provides accepted test results for the final system documentation package. Utilizes product specifications, FCC license data, and design parameters to perform performance verification/optimization of advanced digital and legacy analog RF infrastructure. Provides baseline measurement data and accepted test results for the final system documentation package. Utilizes project design drawings and customer current system information to design/develop solutions to difficult technical issues encountered as part of system implementation, upgrades, or support issues. Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
Unique combinations of multi-site RF communications systems and computer/networking skills are required. Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN IP networks, and must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems including cabling, routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of: Server Virtualization, specifically with VMWare ESXi v.6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+ Server Operating Systems, specifically Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and 2019 Workstation Operating Systems, specifically Windows 7 & 10 Switches, routers, firewalls, specifically HP and Juniper Knowledge of secure products/protocols (KMF, KVL, AES)
