Engineering Technician I

Position Details

In-office in both Redmond, WA and Kirkland, WA. Hourly pay range: $24.00 - $34.00/hour.

Primary Function

The Engineering Technician I is responsible for assisting in the build, maintenance, and upgrade of prototypes, products, and assemblies in support of Sigma Design's engineering team. This entry-level role performs routine tasks under close supervision while learning foundational skills and tools.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities

Assist with mechanical assembly, wiring, soldering, and basic lab setup. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures. Observe and support testing, documentation, and troubleshooting. Participate in training to build technical knowledge and safe work practices. Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

High School Diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of experience of relevant work experience. Familiarity with hand tools and basic electrical lab equipment. Willingness to learn mechanical and electrical assembly skills. Basic computer and math skills. Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset. Strong written and verbal English language communication skills. Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group. Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values. Pass a post-offer background verification.

Work Environment

Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
