As an Engineering Design Technician, you will apply skills in Building Information Modeling (BIM), architectural modeling, and multi-disciplinary design coordination to help deliver complex seaport and airport projects. You'll prepare, maintain, and coordinate 2D drawings and 3D models that integrate architectural, structural, civil, and MEP systems – supporting design and construction teams from concept to as-builts. You will perform as the technical specialist to interpret, organize, draft, execute and set up architectural drawings and multi-disciplinary BIM modeling workflows, including 3D/4D modeling, clash detection, and constructability reviews. You will administer skills, knowledge, and practices of both Port of Seattle CAD/BIM Standards and industry-required standards such as NCS, ISO 19650 and NBIMS. You will assist Project Engineers with site inspections. You will recognize and understand safety requirements while performing inspections and produce accurate as-built documents. You will develop and maintain accurate, coordinated architectural and multi-disciplinary models, integrate and ensure seamless data exchange between consultants, contractors, and in-house models to ensure alignment and compliance. You will support design and construction coordination meetings by providing model-based insights to resolve conflicts before construction. You will assess and solve software problems and perform as Lead Design Technician on selected projects, guiding BIM execution plans. You will coordinate, evaluate and incorporate information from outside consultants and ensure compliance with Port of Seattle CAD/BIM Standards and alignment with overall project delivery goals.
Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience producing and maintaining engineering plans using design software. You can produce clear, concise, and well-organized communications for both internal and external audiences, and you actively engage others in open, productive team dialogue. Adaptable – You have time management skills managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. You can also adapt and keep pace with new software releases and technologies. Technically Skilled – You have knowledge of engineering software applications such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Navisworks. You also have proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Autodesk Construction Cloud, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam and Adobe.
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies. Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management's discretion. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role. Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
