DevOps Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-prem environments. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, enforce governance, and support modern application deployments.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS, including services like EC2, IAM, RDS, Route53, and networking/storage components.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Packer, and CloudFormation.
- Implement and enforce CI/CD standards, policies, and governance to ensure secure and efficient developer workflows.
- Support and secure containerized applications using Kubernetes (preferably OpenShift 4 or EKS) and Helm.
- Collaborate with development teams to support Java and/or .NET-based applications from build through deployment and operations.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Jenkins Pipeline, to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Apply cloud and on-prem security best practices, ensuring compliance and resilience across environments.
- Use configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to manage Linux and/or Windows workloads.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Contribute to the design of event-driven and web service-based architectures.
Required Skills: What you need to be considered:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or Cloud Engineer role.
- Strong experience with AWS core services and cloud networking.
- Proficiency in Terraform, Packer, and CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins preferred).
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift 4, EKS, and Helm.
- Familiarity with Java and/or .NET application deployment and support.
- Strong knowledge of cloud/on-prem security best practices.
- Experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for configuration management.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills: What you need to be considered:
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools like ArgoCD or Flux.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $49,001 to $107,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
