Additionally, it manages and promotes 55 global events annually. TNT Sports UK features exclusive live sports such as the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Roles and Responsibilities: As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key member of the WBD Sports team, responsible for building and maintaining systems supporting Warner Bros. Discovery's family of Sports products/brands, including Eurosport, NCAA/MML, and Bleacher Report. You will work closely with product/project managers, users, development staff, and senior leadership to implement designs, develop and deploy fan-facing solutions.

Own and drive key initiatives supporting the developer workflow from PR to release

Innovate and deliver technical solutions

Collaborate with partner engineering teams for inputs, support, and guidance

Establish best practices, set exemplary coding standards and drive operational practices for your team.

Monitor, review, and coach developer performance; conduct regular performance appraisals and provide disciplinary actions

Document technical solutions and articulate them to both business and technical audiences

Present, communicate, and advocate engineering perspectives

Participate in Agile ceremonies and show ownership of work throughout the sprint process

Build and maintain highly available, low-latency systems that successfully serve sports content to customers in production environments.

Integrate service health, monitoring, alerting and documentation capabilities in parallel to your software development deliverables.

Coach and mentor engineers up to Senior Software Engineer level, providing input to leadership on team development needs and growth opportunities.

What to Bring:

9-12 years of experience as a software developer.

React.js (v18+): Deep expertise with hooks, context, suspense, and performance optimization.

TypeScript & JavaScript (ES6+): Strong command of modern language features and type safety.

State Management: Experience with Redux Toolkit, React Query, and Apollo Client.

GraphQL: Familiarity with persisted queries, schema typing, and GraphQL Codegen.

Webpack & Babel: Proficiency in custom configurations, vendor bundling, and plugin usage.

Testing: Advanced skills with Jest, Cypress, Testing Library, and coverage tools like NYC.

Styling: SASS, stylelint, and responsive design using Bootstrap and styled components.

Security: Knowledge of JWT, OAuth, dompurify, validator, and secure front-end practices.

Node.js (v18): Comfortable working with server-side rendering and Express.js.

Preferred Skills:

Apollo Federation and GraphQL schema stitching.

CI/CD Pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.

Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, dd-trace.

Accessibility & UX: WCAG compliance and inclusive design practices.

Tooling: Familiarity with commitizen, cz-jira-smart-commit, husky, and lint-staged.

Cloud & Storage: Experience with AWS SDK (S3, lib-storage).

Real-Time Features: Integration with Pusher.js and live data pipelines.

Package Management: Deep understanding of npm scripts and dependency management.

Development Practices:

Code Quality: Enforce linting, formatting, and testing standards across the codebase.

Mentorship: Guide junior and senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical planning.

Architecture Oversight: Lead design of scalable component systems and micro frontends.

Commit Standards: Maintain commit hygiene using commitlint, conventional changelog, and smart commits.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with PMs, QAs, designers, frontend and backend engineers. Ability to identify and manage cross-team dependencies and technical risks.

Documentation: Author technical proposals and maintain internal documentation (Architecture Decision and Design documents)

Release Management: Support build pipelines, staging environments, and production deployments.
