Unified Communications/Collaboration Engineer
We are seeking a Unified Communications/Collaboration Engineer to optimize our collaboration tools and drive adoption of Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). This role will consolidate platforms, streamline processes, and enhance the associate and customer experience. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver and trusted advisor, partnering with IT, Security, and business units to balance enablement with governance while delivering scalable, secure collaboration solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect and execute a strategy to migrate collaboration functionalities from Webex and Slack to Microsoft Teams
- Manage/maintain the administration of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business
- Develop a plan to move from Cisco Webex calling functionality to MS Teams Voice
- Partner internally to migrate from traditional network file shares, leveraging SharePoint and OneDrive
- Build departmental sites for content management and team collaboration within SharePoint
- Develop external collaboration and sharing solutions using Teams/SharePoint that are secure and simple
Associate Adoption, Training, & Support:
- Develop and lead an organizational change management and training strategy for new UC tooling
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert and advocate for best practices across all collaboration platforms
- Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point for all complex issues related to Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Webex
- Liaise with business stakeholders to understand their workflows/requirements, translating their needs into solutions
Governance & Security:
- Develop/implement policies for platform governance, access control, data retention, and lifecycle management
- Configure/enforce security settings across M365, protecting company data
- Ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, aligning with best practices for Cybersecurity
- Identify trends, report on adoption, and provide data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a focus on Microsoft 365 and unified communications
- Deep technical expertise in administering Microsoft Teams, including policies, voice, and app integrations
- Strong experience with SharePoint Online site architecture, permissions, and document library management
- Demonstrated experience managing Cisco Webex (Control Hub, account provisioning, meeting settings)
- Experience planning and executing platform migrations (e.g., file shares to SharePoint/OneDrive, Slack to Teams)
- Proficiency in using PowerShell to automate administrative tasks and manage M365 services
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and lead training sessions
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on strategic projects
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Microsoft 365 Certification (e.g., Teams Administrator Associate, SharePoint Hybrid Administrator)
- Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) to automate business workflows
Physical Capabilities and Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods within an office environment
- Ability to use hands and fingers for computer keyboarding, and answer phone calls
- Ability to communicate via the telephone using speaking and hearing skills
