As Senior Counsel, Financial Services, you will provide expert legal leadership across Walmart's broad financial services portfolio—encompassing credit cards, personal lending, BNPL, prepaid programs, digital wallets, subscription and loyalty products, and fintech partnerships. You'll serve as the primary in-house legal advisor for our innovative financial services products in the U.S., while also supporting external fintech partners and collaborating with international teams on emerging opportunities. Your work will help shape legal strategies that enable both domestic financial services growth and seamless integration of fintech initiatives globally.
Serve as the primary financial services contact for our Government Affairs team tracking new legislation, proposed rules, regulatory guidance, and add valuable insights working with our industry groups to prepare comment letters on proposed rules and regulations. You will also serve as the lead lawyer on financial services AI initiatives related to payments, digital wallets, agentic AI, and the privacy issues associated with growing AI interfaces within Walmart payments.

What you'll bring:
Experience & Qualifications
8+ years of experience in legal roles supporting consumer financial services or fintech operations—either in-house or with a law firm.
Credit card experience desirable, including advising on card program structure, billing and dispute resolution, APR disclosures, fees, underwriting and co-brand card models.
Deep expertise in Reg Z and Reg E in retail financial services contexts.
Strong background in banking regulation, including licensing, money transmitter laws, state and federal oversight.
Experience supporting digital wallet, payments, and fintech product development—guiding legal and regulatory aspects.
Experience at a financial regulator (e.g., CFPB, FTC, or state banking authority) or working with regulators provides a meaningful advantage.
Proven ability to translate legal risk into practical, business-focused advice.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and convey legal guidance to non-law audiences.
Practical judgment and a commercial mindset sharpened in fast-paced environments.
