Animal Services Transfer Coordinator

Join our team as an Animal Services Transfer Coordinator and play a vital role in the lifesaving journey of animals who need us most. In this dynamic position, you'll work hands-on with our medically vulnerable and behaviorally challenged pets while building solid relationships with local and national rescue partners. Your expertise will directly influence our live-release rate and shape our life-saving impact. If you excel at balancing animal handling, partner communication and thoughtful decision-making, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference for every animal in our care. NOTE: Work Schedule: 5, 8 hour shifts, flexible but evening and weekend availability required.

The Wake County Animal Center is an open-admission animal shelter operated by Wake County Government and on average takes in between 11,000 to 12,000 animals each year. We receive all stray, abandoned and surrendered pets in Wake County. The Center works in partnership with fosters, volunteers and local rescues, to treat and rehome thousands of homeless animals every year.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

High school diploma or GED

Three years of experience in animal center operations

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

One year of animal handling experience

Two years of managing an animal volunteer, foster, or rescue program

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in: animal handling, animal behavior, reading animal body language, customer service, communication, social media, data entry, Microsoft Office (including excel and sharepoint), attention to details and deadlines

Location: Wake County Animal Control Raleigh, NC

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: 5, 8 hour shifts, flexible but evening and weekend availability required

Hiring Range: 26.54 - 34.07

Market Range: 26.54 - 41.59
