About the Job: The Area Engineer will ensure safety, inspect plant systems, and support operations and engineering across multiple sites. The Area Engineer will coordinate, supervise, and direct the work of a team of project engineers, ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget. Responsibilities include capital planning, project management from design to implementation, structural design, and technical support for the SHE department. Experience with aggregate processing equipment and systems is preferred. Travel up to 30% overnight is required.
What You'll Do:
- Inspect plant systems to ensure that they are safe for operating personnel.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of project engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Make regular visits to all sites within your assigned area.
- Ensure effective communication between the Operations and Engineering groups.
- Perform routine inspections of site facilities.
- Perform field support and troubleshooting of existing systems.
- Assist with capital planning, budgets, estimating, and cost estimation.
- Participate in plant process reviews and opportunity searches.
- Work with Operations Management to develop projects, including process modeling, equipment specification, general arrangement drawings, and estimates.
- Develop project design, planning, and coordination through implementation.
- Manage projects, complete structural designs and drawings, develop site plans, and perform other engineering tasks related to aggregate processing and remote distribution facilities.
- Experience with crushers, screens, conveyors, water systems, railroad layout, earthwork, stormwater, and utilities preferred.
- Support the SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) department with technical support/professional services.
Other Requirements:
- PE license is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Education:
- Engineering Degree Required: BS Civil Engineer, BS Mechanical Engineer, or BS Structural Engineer is preferred.
Experience:
- Must have at least 10 years of experience in a heavy industrial, civil/mechanical engineering, or mining environment.
- Preferred engineering experience with aggregate design and processing facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of general engineering in a heavy industrial environment. Must have knowledge of aggregate processing, which includes crushing, screening, conveying, washing, stockpiling, and reclaiming.
- Strong structural, concrete, and pumping systems design skills preferred. Must have a general knowledge of electrical and plant automation systems. Knowledge of aggregate process flow modeling is preferred.
- Must have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets. Advanced computer skills in AutoCAD, word processing, and scheduling software is preferred.
