Job Description

Looking for an opportunity to further your career with a top ranked, globally positioned firm? AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our highly collaborative and motivated staff in our Roanoke, Virginia office's Building Engineering practice. The Structural Engineer will perform the following duties but not limited to:

  • Lead the preparation of deliverables such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates related to structural systems for commercial and governmental facilities
  • Deliver complete, accurate, and coordinated project design assignments within time and budget parameters while satisfying client contractual obligations
  • Perform field investigation for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents and provide conditions assessments on existing buildings
  • Perform construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI responses, construction inspections, and responding to client requests
  • Work independently and make technical decisions based on building code interpretation as well as company, client, and industry standard practices
  • Assist department in developing standards and maintaining current code and practice knowledge
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control checking of structural design documents developed by fellow engineers and perform interdisciplinary reviews
  • Mentor less experienced structural engineers and support career growth

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in structural or civil engineering
  • 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • U.S. Citizenship required, due to the nature of the work
  • Experience in use of 3d structural analysis software such as RAM Structural, STAAD, RISA, ETABS, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in structural engineering
  • 6+ years of experience with an engineering firm designing structural systems for commercial and institutional facilities
  • Revit experience is highly desirable
  • DoD project experience and knowledge of UFC code requirements
  • Antiterrorism/Force Protection and Blast Resistant structural design experience

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Sponsorship for US Employment Authorization is not available now or in the future for this position. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $110,000.00.
