Project Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Project Engineer collaborates closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate project activities, ensuring goals are met within set time frames and budgetary limits. This role is integral in achieving project success by handling various tasks that support the construction process.

Responsibilities:

• Assist project superintendent in resolving field problems and provide design information through the design professional.
• Review, coordinate, and verify that shop drawings conform with contract documents, overseeing their distribution from initial submission to final approval.
• Assemble data for and prepare change order requests, subcontract change orders, and contract change orders for Project Manager's review and submission.
• Coordinate, expedite, and supervise subcontractor performance with the project manager and superintendent.
• Coordinate and expedite the delivery of materials and equipment, including owner-purchased equipment, to maintain the construction schedule.
• Review and approve subcontractors' progress payment requests and prepare applications for payment to the owner.
• Prepare periodic cost reports.
• Ensure adequate supervision of quality control activities and suggest corrective actions for quality control discrepancies.
• Coordinate job progress meetings, maintain records, prepare minutes, and ensure distribution to all project participants.
• Coordinate acquisition and review of records drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, performance tests, and start-up data, maintaining a record set of as-built drawings.
• Provide technical support for pre-construction and construction efforts, including construction planning, design interpretation, conflict resolution, and constructability reviews.
• Represent the company during meetings with the owner, design professionals, and other project participants in the absence of the project manager.

Essential Skills:

• 2-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer on vertical commercial construction projects.
• Experience with ground-up projects valued at $20 million or more.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, handling RFIs, and managing submittals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with project engineering activities that comply with company and contract requirements.
• Ability to provide technical support in construction planning and design.
• Capability to assist engineers or surveyors with field layout activities and measurement.

Work Environment:

The Project Engineer will typically be in the office five days per week, with flexibility to visit the job site as needed. This role involves working directly with a Project Manager and Superintendent. The position offers an incredible growth opportunity into an Assistant Project Manager and eventually a Project Manager role, within a company that has been established for over 50 years, known for both exciting and stable work.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
