The Patient Services Representative will serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community. This position will receive and process patient referrals, patient registration, verify demographics, obtain insurance cards and identification, and update medical records accurately and efficiently. In addition, the Patient Services Representative's responsibilities include scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Essential functions include providing strong communication and excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner, processing admission paperwork and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for hospital billing systems, answering internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner, troubleshooting and resolving problems promptly, maintaining patient flow and informing supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately, coordinating and prioritizing bed placement needs to ensure prompt and appropriate placement of patients, and performing other duties as assigned.

Education requirements include a high school degree or GED (required) and an associate's degree in healthcare or related field (preferred). Work experience should include knowledge of medical billing procedures (required), medical office software experience (required), knowledge of medical terminology and basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding (preferred), and prior medical office experience (preferred).

Skills and abilities include problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, engaging with staff and patients in a professional manner, and basic math skills.
