Network Engineer Position

Cimarron is seeking a Network Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. Key Duties include:

  • Perform network engineering and administration functions in support of the Network Operations Center and IT/IM department.
  • Prepare and deliver status reports, analyze network anomalies, and develop engineering redlines to support maintenance, upgrades, and security vulnerability remediation.
  • Provide technical analysis for network planning, systems administration, engineering, and design, applying the most effective implementation techniques and tools.
  • Utilize Remedy to track and manage customer support requests, change actions, and incidents.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive end-to-end circuit path documentation for WAN and LAN environments using Microsoft Visio.
  • Support DSX equipment panels and cabling systems, including fiber optic and metallic cabling, connectors, and termination techniques.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance (or higher).
  • 3 or more years of network engineering experience.
  • Current CCNA Certification.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (ex., Security+).
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support various projects and troubleshooting activities.
  • Experience with SolarWinds, NetScout, and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Ability to follow documented processes and procedures and provide feedback for updates as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to provide on-call support for infrastructure issues, including VIP and senior management support in the National Capital Region.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Quick learner with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent customer service and support skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience with Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ISE, SD-WAN, SD-Access, KVM switches, TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF, various WAN network mediums, and legacy systems such as SONET, LightWave ATM, and TDM multiplexer timing systems.
  • Background supporting operational networks, including tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, COMSEC, or systems administration.
  • Proficiency working with DISA, as well as local and long-haul circuit vendors.
  • Strong hands-on experience with data transmission protocols (RS-232, RS-530, T1, T3, ESF, D4, B8ZS, L3VPN, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192) and in applying the OSI 7-layer model.
  • Experience with DSX equipment panels and cabling systems, including fiber optics and metallic cabling, connectors, and termination techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with secure communications devices (VoIP phones, Viper, Jabber, etc.) and supporting infrastructure (POTs, ISDN, leased lines, encryption devices, call management servers).
