HII Unmanned Systems is seeking an experienced professional to come join our mechanical engineering group! We are looking for an individual to contribute to the development of advanced capabilities for integration into our autonomous systems for our Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). System and subsystem design space includes common platform engineering areas, including energy subsystems, navigation subsystems, propulsion subsystems, sensor subsystems, and control subsystems, as well as launch and recovery systems. As a mechanical engineer you will be responsible for the participation in product life cycle analysis and the development and management of technical data packages on new and existing designs. Working in a cross functional design team, the candidate will be responsible for bringing designs through first article release, test, integration, delivery to manufacturing, and manufacturing support and improvements.
Responsibilities include:
What you will be doing!! Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R and D to manufacturing.
What we are looking for.. + 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance + Knowledge of Enterprise PDM (EPDM) in support of 3D modeling tools (Solidworks) . + Manufacturing experience with marine products. + Failure Analysis experience. Physical Requirements May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
