Engineering Technical Lead

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a skilled Engineering Technical Lead to join our Global Security Group. In this role, you'll provide technical leadership for the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE), supporting Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVCt) training events and the Navy Training Baseline (NTB). This position involves planning and executing LVCt events and is located at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, with occasional local travel to other sites in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

What You Will Do:

  • Serves as a Engineering Technical Lead for NCTE training events.
  • Collaborates with the operational event lead for the training event technical requirements and collaborates with the operations and engineering departments to ensure these event requirements are met.
  • Collaborates with operations and engineering leads to build integrated project teams (IPTs) and manning plans to support NCTE training events.
  • Collaborates with IPTs to design architectures that support specific training event requirements and documents these architectures using established diagram standards - e.g. Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) SV-1 and SV-2 - using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Monitors the health and status of training events during execution and directs activities of the integrated project team to address any technical issues.
  • Troubleshoots LVCt system related issues and ensures training event system interfaces are configured in accordance with documented interface standards.

What You Must Have:

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must be familiar with Linux (command line) and Windows operating systems.
  • Candidate must have technical leadership ability.
  • Candidate must be able to address technical issues by understanding which engineering domain problems belong to and then engage engineers from the appropriate domains to resolve issues.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating at various levels of the organization.
  • Candidate must be familiar with MS Office.
  • Candidate must have a current CompTIA Security + certification.
  • Candidate must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance.

Bonus Points For Having:

  • Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Experience with MS Visio software to produce technical architecture drawings.
  • Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS.
  • Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands.

Physical Requirements: Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
