This position performs analytic, technical, and operational duties for the Language Skills Support Unit (LSSU). Serving as the primary point of contact for coordinating language support services, this role is critical to ensuring effective communication, compliance with legal and procedural requirements, and the efficient delivery of multilingual services. In addition to coordination responsibilities, provides in-person Spanish interpretation and related language assistance on scene, at the courthouse for court-related matters, and in other operational settings to support officers, detectives, and victim specialists. Support will be provided during regular business hours, with occasional evening, holiday, and weekend assignments as needed. Will also participate in an on-call rotation to respond to urgent investigative, court, and community engagement requests. Strong bilingual skills in Spanish both oral and written are essential for success in this position. Works under the direct supervision of the Major Crimes Bureau Commander.
Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are language support services and interpretation.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area. Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.

Fluent in Spanish (Must pass the language proficiency exam before selection) Experience working with diverse communities, including individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). A minimum 2 years of direct experience in a court setting or with an organization closely connected to the criminal justice system, with strong knowledge of court procedures and criminal justice operations. Court Interpreter Certification Demonstrated expertise in verbal interpretation and document translation, ensuring accurate, culturally sensitive communication. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple high-priority tasks while meeting deadlines. Skilled in building and maintaining positive relationships with staff, community groups, and the public.
