Combat Systems Technician

Join our E25 Virginia Class Submarine Combat Systems Test Engineering Team at HII Newport News Direct Support. We're looking for candidates with previous US Navy Submarine Combat Systems experience. The Combat Systems Technician is a demanding position requiring in-depth technical knowledge, a solid grasp of the requirements of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf electronics experience. This role will support 2nd and 3rd shift testing after you've qualified as a Test Director.

What You Will Do:

  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
  • The candidate will be perform testing, maintenance and operation of the Combat Systems including the WLCIE.
  • The candidate will ensure that all systems function properly as designed and in accordance with the required test procedures, generate (PPDs) Preliminary Problem Discrepancies when discrepancies are found in equipment operation/functions of the Combat System software, and assist in the problem resolution phases.

What You Must Have:

  • AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
  • Candidate must have prior US Navy Submarine Combat Systems experience.
  • Candidate must have a active SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Candidate must be able and willing to support 2nd/3rd Shift Test Schedules.
  • Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers including SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, CWITT & PMS450E, and coordinate with many different organizations to safely and successfully accomplish testing.

Bonus Points For Having:

  • Prior Experience with Virginia Class Submarine Combat Systems Equipment.
  • Prior experience in electronics troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Prior shipyard expereince interfacing with the E25 Test Engineering Team.

Physical Requirements:

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
