Student Support Services Administrative Specialist

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. We also believe in providing an ongoing investment in our faculty and staff to deepen their skills and competencies to serve the full range of our student population. Reynolds Community College is seeking a Student Support Services Administrative Specialist to assist students get connected to federal, state, local, and institutional benefits and resources, by screening students for benefits and working with them through the application process for those benefits. Connecting more students to benefits will help mitigate or remove the effects of external variables that may inhibit a student's ability to perform in the classroom or otherwise persist at the College. This role also provides administrative and organizational support to the Dean of the Downtown Campus. Serving as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and community members, the specialist will deliver exceptional customer service while managing daily office operations. Responsibilities include maintaining calendars, databases, and spreadsheets; scheduling appointments; developing and managing filing systems; preparing reports; and providing direct administrative support to units reporting to the dean.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint; ability to maintain Google Drives and utilize student success platforms such as EAB Navigate and Oracle Student Information System (SIS).
  • General knowledge of office management practices and procedures.
  • Working skills in the operation of automated office equipment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make independent work-processing decisions, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use PCs and current software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform office support functions in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Associate's degree in administrative support.
