We are currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Virginia with Professor Patrick Hopkins. We are seeking a qualified candidate with expertise in the research and development of pump-probe thermal metrologies and IR metrologies. Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a related field is required by the start date. Candidates must have experience with pump-probe thermoreflectance systems to measure the thermal properties of materials and background in near field radiative heat transfer, and must have evidence of publications in this field. The postdoctoral position will be working on the development of thermal and optical property measurement systems at both temperature spanning from room temperature up through ultrahigh temperatures. The candidate must be able to work in team environment, mentor graduate students, lead new research initiatives and meet project goal deadlines/reports.
