Program Support Technician Sr

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Locating, interpreting and analyzing criminal history record information to determine lawful eligibility under state and federal law for persons to purchase or receive a firearm from any federally licensed firearms dealer in the Commonwealth.

Knowledge: Of state and federal criminal history databases. Of statistical analysis. Skills: In using Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, Exchange/Outlook. In basic computer operations. Ability: To apply policies and procedures when making recommendations. To apply research and analytical methodology in the interpretation of criminal arrest and disposition information. To write and communicate effectively. To respond to inquiries from the general public. Direct experience associated with Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Experience in retrieval and interpretation of criminal arrest and disposition information. Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified which requires either United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization. VCIN certified or ability to become certified within specific time frame. Graduation from high school or equivalent.
