Military & Veteran Services Center Advisor

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking and many other activities. Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Military & Veteran Services Center Advisor to work in the Military & Veteran Services Center. The primary responsibilities of this position include serving as a Veterans Affairs Representative for students and the College community. Serves as point-of-contact for the Tuition Assistance program, the Department of Education Title IV funding, and Veterans Affairs and Commonwealth of Virginia military connected education benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures; and knowledge of Veterans Affairs Education benefits, certifying, and policies and procedures
  • Student Information System experience
  • The ability to work independently and effectively under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining confidential information

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience in a post-secondary education, preferably in a community college setting
  • Knowledge of Veterans' Benefit Programs
  • Bilingual in Spanish
