Job Duties

The purpose of this position is to oversee and support the effective operation of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for VADOC Health Services. This role serves as the primary link between clinical staff, IT, and leadership to ensure EHR workflows, documentation, data, and training needs are met. The position ensures the system functions efficiently, supports compliance and patient safety, and strengthens the delivery of healthcare services across the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of program administration principles, including planning, coordination, documentation control, and operational support.

• Knowledge of Electronic Health Record systems, clinical workflows, and health information processes within a health services program.

• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements, data privacy rules, and security expectations in a health care environment.

• Skills in organizing program activities, managing schedules, tracking tasks, and maintaining documentation needed for audits and oversight.

• Skill in coordinating communication among clinical staff, Information Technology teams, and leadership is essential.

• Skill in using Excel and the full Microsoft Suite for data review, monitoring, and presentations.

• Skill in supporting training, preparing materials, and guiding staff through new processes.

• Ability to identify operational needs and translate them into clear system requests, resource needs, or administrative actions.

• Ability to troubleshoot Electronic Health Record concerns, track issues, and escalate to the appropriate workgroups for timely resolution.

• Ability to assist with the rollout of new systems, updates, or policy changes while supporting staff through transitions.

Additional Considerations

• Board certification in Informatics or equivalent informatics certification.

• Minimum of 1-year experience in EHR implementation.

• Previous clinical experience in a correctional environment.

• Healthcare certification or licensure.
