Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $32,524.00-$43,907.00. Salary will be commensurate with competencies and experience.

Job Description:

This quasi full-time position will serve as a one-stop resource in the high school for middle majority students. The position will facilitate dual enrollment registrations and coordinate with Laurel Ridge Dual Enrollment (DE) Specialists to assist students interested in earning a degree or credential at the time of graduation. The career coach will coordinate career assessments, assist with writing academic career plans, and will serve as a resource to counselors and other staff in career counseling. The career coach will assist with post-graduation plans, including college placement testing, financial aid, trade and technical school applications, and support students planning to enter the workforce directly. The position will also work closely with the WBL coach or other school staff to support student referrals of WBL experiences, including a focus on employability and soft skills training. The coach will stay informed about programs at the college, including transfer and non-transfer degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates. They will attend training to stay current regarding program changes at Laurel Ridge and will complete all reports as required.

Classified: Compensation and Benefits

The hiring range for this position is $32,524.00-$43,907.00. Salary will be commensurate with competencies and experience. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven subject matter knowledge, which may be evidenced by training, experience, and/or credentials.
  • Experience utilizing oral and written communication skills in presentations and reports
  • Computer technology experience- Word, Excel, and other commonly used platforms
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a positive, clear, and concise method to a diverse customer population.

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience administering and interpreting assessments.
  • Experience conducting workshops for small groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software, and able to learn new software quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Previous secondary school experience, preferably in a high school setting, or related professional experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing, or demonstrated capacity and willingness to acquire proficiency to meet the needs of the position preferred.
