Job Description:
Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York. Under the general supervision, direction, policies, and guidelines of the Dean of Retention and Student Success this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Virginia Peninsula Community College Gator Card Photo ID card office, administration and management. This position provides additional administrative and direct customer support to students, faculty, staff, guests, and contractors of Virginia Peninsula Community College.
The Campus ID Card Services Coordinator may be required to perform other duties as assigned as necessary, appropriate, and/or available.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (Clery Act) and Responsible Employee (Title IX).
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge • Thorough knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. • General knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. • Working knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimating, monitoring, and fiscal management principles and procedures. • Working knowledge of photo ID software programs, associated hardware, databases, and/or other programs/processes. • Working knowledge of SIS, Oracle Adm/or similar databases.
Skills • Excellent and effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • Excellent skills in computers, related word processing, and spreadsheet software, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. • Ability to operate modern office equipment including computer and photo ID equipment. • Outstanding administrative skills including attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. • Skill in the configuration, installation, and operation of leading-edge automated ID and access control systems.

Required: • Experience operating an ID card system • Experience maintaining cardholder databases and ensuring data accuracy • Work-related experience • Experience managing daily operations of a service desk, office or student-service area • Experience in student services, customer service, administrative support, or campus operations • Experience handling front line customer interactions in a fast paced environment • Experience with data entry, recordkeeping, or program administration • High school graduate or GED. • U.S. Citizen or otherwise legally eligible for employment in the Commonwealth of Virginia • Minimum of 18 years of age. • Successfully complete a background investigation in accordance with the current Virginia Peninsula Community College standards.
