Assistant Professor Of Physics, Engineering

The Department of Chemistry and Physics in the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a full-time, tenure-track position in Engineering and Physics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2026. Professional responsibilities include teaching 12 contact hours per semester of undergraduate engineering courses for engineering physics and cooperative engineering majors. In addition to the primary responsibility of innovative undergraduate teaching, faculty are also expected to advise students in the major, develop a research program involving undergraduates, and participate in service at the department and University level.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum requirement is an earned Ph.D. in any Engineering discipline including Engineering Physics or a Ph.D. in Physics with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in engineering
  • A strong commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, the potential to develop a successful research program in an undergraduate setting, dedication to quality advising of students, and commitment to service to the University.
  • Minimum of 18 graduate hours in any engineering discipline is required.
  • A strong preference will be given to candidates with degrees that complement the current Physics and Engineering faculty.
  • A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with diverse populations and perspectives of students, faculty, and staff in support of the university mission is preferred.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, tenure-track instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
