Key Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment, including drills, DaVinci systems, and scopes.
• Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma, loaner, and peel-packed items.
• Operate sterilization processes such as Sterrad and steam sterilization.
• Handle High-Level Disinfection (HLD) and scope reprocessing.
• Manage sterile storage areas efficiently.
• Serve as an OR liaison ensuring smooth communication and coordination.
• Utilize Censitrac tracking system for accurate instrument and equipment management.
• Candidates must possess either CBSPD or CRCST certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM). The role requires at least 3 years of experience in a similar fast-paced, trauma-level hospital setting like OSU.

Required Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of decontamination, sterilization, and instrument assembly.
• Proficiency in operating sterilization equipment (Sterrad, steam).
• Experience with HLD and scope reprocessing.
• Understanding of sterile storage logistics.
• Strong communication skills for OR liaison activities.
• Familiarity with Censitrac or equivalent tracking systems.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience floating between multiple hospital locations.
• Additional certifications in sterile processing.
• Knowledge of OR workflow and surgical schedules.
• Prior experience with trauma centers or high-volume surgical facilities.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Certification: CBSPD or CRCST through HSPA required.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in sterile processing within a hospital setting, preferably in trauma or Level One facilities.

Other Requirements:

• Availability to work the night shift (7:00 PM – 3:30 AM), Monday through Friday, with occasional holiday scheduling.
• May be required to float to different locations as needed.
• Valid certifications and licenses related to sterile processing.
• Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards at all times.
