Akima Systems Engineering is seeking a Network Engineer (Intermediate) to support operations at Shaw Air Force Base, SC. The Network Engineer provides Tier 2 network engineering support, responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network services across NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments. This role includes diagnosing and resolving network incidents, performing configuration management, implementing approved changes, and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, including RMF and DISA STIG requirements. The Network Engineer supports network monitoring tools, analyzes performance metrics, and proactively identifies and mitigates potential issues to maintain mission continuity and high availability. The position requires coordination with Service Desk, Systems Administration, and Cybersecurity teams to ensure timely escalation and resolution of network-related tickets, as well as participation in outage response, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a high-tempo environment are essential. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required to support both technical teams and end users. The place of performance for this role is on-site at USARCENT G6 on Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC.
