Engineer For Transmission And Substation

This position will serve as an Engineer for Transmission and Substation large pieces of equipment. Prefer to have knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE and ANSI as it pertains to T&S assets. This person will be responsible for following and updating T&S equipment standards as well as providing technical training to field personnel when required. The person will be expected to attend and participate in technical and industrial committees. The person will be able to read/review electric schematics and work with vendors on T&S equipment. The person will also be responsible for evaluating equipment, working with supply and others to determine and approve vendors for T&S equipment.

Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Provides technical expertise to strategic, legislative and operational decisions. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer (e.g., collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management)

Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects (e.g., analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)

May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects (e.g., verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)

Evaluates effectiveness of current technical systems and processes. Participates on teams (e.g., design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)

Job scope includes providing technical assistance in support of senior engineers, managers and others. Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.
