We have an exciting opportunity for a Customs Operations Supervisor, to supervise a team of Customs Operations Specialist/Clerks and coordinate all customs clearance activities. Supervise a team of Customs Operations Specialist/Clerks performing the duties: Duty Finalization Check processing Intercompany Invoice Mailing Trucker Payable Bond Department CAT Customer Maintenance POA Key Responsibilities: Manages productivity and develops initiatives for efficiency improvements Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled Customs Operation Team Ensures all work is assigned department/team is completed in a timely and efficient manner Supports in KPI achievements by monitoring and driving performance evaluation Customs Operation Specialist team members Ensures operational adherence to compliance standards of federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DFG facilities Ensures operational adherence to defined processing standards Handles escalations (e.g. dispute with internal/external customers) Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required Typically supervise a large team of associate level employees/or lower level employees in Supervise and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DHL facilities. Establishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations. Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently administered. Responsible for meeting key performance indicators targets for a given product. Supervises two or more staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff. Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes. Recommends process improvements for area; identifies, defines, and develops solutions to issues and problems that are not immediately evident in existing systems. Focused on maintaining steady workflow and productivity, meeting service/productivity standards, and resolving operational problems and handling disturbances. Provides guidance and training. Provides input to hiring, firing, layoff, promotion, reward, and other decisions. Manages overtime. Majority of time is focused on supervising employees who perform service, production, or support work. Often interacts with contacts outside DHL such as customer representatives, vendors, or industry groups.
Skills / Qualifications: Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business area. An advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Knows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting and cost control, and progressive techniques in area of specialization. Generally understands basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action. 3-5 years of experience in related area of responsibility Pay Range: $62,475.00 - $83,300.00+ (Based on Experience) Benefits (All Non-Union Employees) Compensation: Competitive base salary plus role dependent performance-based incentives. 401(k) Match: $1-for-$1 match up to 4% quarterly + 2% annual base contribution.
