Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Systems

We are seeking a senior software engineer to lead the development of embedded software systems. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership, drive architectural decisions, and influence the direction of a multidisciplinary engineering team. As a key contributor, you will:

1. Design and implement robust, production-ready embedded software.
2. Lead architecture and design efforts across the software stack.
3. Integrate our products into complex, multi-system environments.
4. Develop secure interfaces and support containerized deployments using Kubernetes.
5. Contribute to cybersecurity compliance and ensure interoperability with external systems.

You will serve as a technical authority within the project team, shaping software architecture and guiding best practices throughout the development lifecycle. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Santa Barbara, CA.

Required skills & expertise:

• Proficiency in C++, C, and Python
• Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal firmware
• Strong background in software architecture and system-level integration
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure software development

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Yocto or Buildroot for embedded Linux build systems
• Hands-on knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to automated security testing tools (e.g., GitLab SAST, SonarQube)
• Understanding of software quality assurance and compliance standards

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $145,000.00 - $200,000.00/yr.
