The Automation for Sovereign Cloud (ASC) team is a SecDevOps team focused specifically on providing automated solution and integrations for Sovereign Realms. Our team leverages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) best practices to develop scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. Sov Realms have unique challenges which require unique solutions to provide a seamless customer interaction between commercial and other realms. This is where our team thrives, providing the connective tissues and purpose-built solutions. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join the ASC team within the Oracle Government Defense Intelligence (GDI) division.

Responsibilities

Our senior engineers are technical leaders in our organization. They work independently and provide technical leadership to their organizations SDEs as well as with the architects across the commercial cloud. This is a high-visibility role that will impact all aspects of the technical patterns for operating the cloud. You must be experienced at developing and operating high-scale services, with an understanding of how to make cloud-scale services resilient, secure, and maintainable. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, have a passion for mentoring junior engineers as well as collaborating with the most senior architects; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You will help define and enforce standards and best practices for software development within OCI. Your experience integrating complex, large-scale tooling into US Government technology ecosystems will fast-track operational efficiencies. You understand operational excellence and possess the know-how to instill a culture of ownership within your organization. You are a skilled communicator – an effective champion with OCI service teams for integration and operational optimization of solutions into the Oracle National Security Realms (ONSR) environment. Your designs and technical contributions will influence the profitability and scalability of OCI's government cloud solutions.

Basic Qualifications

Position requires a U.S. Citizens while possessing and maintaining a TS/SCI eligibility with poly required. BS or MS degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience. 4-8 years of total experience in software development. Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations) up to organizational leadership. Demonstratable programming/software skills in Python/Java/GO/Rust, strong software development experience through hands on coding, and unit tests. Understanding of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, SDLC, secure coding. Ability to build major new features in existing systems, drives design and operational readiness of their features & subsystems. Improves team engineering/ops practices and development process, works independently on projects and works across teams; making nuanced trade-offs; designing for security, concurrency, availability, performance, scalability, and change. Ability to identify and remediate issues, lead root cause analysis efforts and suggest possible solutions. Able to develop new metrics and dashboards to improve situational awareness, reduce operational load, increase service availability, improve compliance to org standards and reduce tech debt.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in computer science or related engineering fields. 2+ years' experience with building on OCI. 2+ years' experience as a technical lead/architect. Experience working on large-scale, highly distributed, global cloud services infrastructure (compute instances, IAM, networking, storage, databases, etc) for mission-critical tier-one services. Knowledge of Computer Networking (OSI layers, HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, Routers, Gateways, Subnets, etc.). Knowledge of Linux internals, Linux/Unix troubleshooting skills, security. Knowledge of host virtualization technologies (KVM, Containers, Docker, etc.)

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
