Psychologist

The Psychologist will lead and coordinate the mental health unit at DRES which is responsible for providing individual therapy, support groups, and assessments in conjunction with other mental health staff to support disabled students who are registered with DRES. In addition, this position serves as the Training Director and coordinates the training and supervision the following groups: grad hourlies, practicum/internship for graduate students in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, and social work; position supervises pre-doctoral internships for school psychology interns through the ISPIC APA approved internship program, and post-doctoral students in counseling, clinical, or school psychology. The successful candidate will lead DRES\'s ongoing efforts to maintain the highest quality of mental health care resources for disabled students with very diverse backgrounds and identities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise professional MH staff and coordinate the training and supervision of practicum students, predoctoral interns, postdocs, and academic hourly workers
  • Coordinate the psychological assessment process to include triage, referrals, scheduling of appointments, tracking, and data/record keeping, in addition to supervising assessments, providing feedback, and report writing
  • Provide individual counseling/psychotherapy services for a diverse population of disabled students in a multi-culturally competent manner
  • Supervise and administer assessments (to students referred for assessment and evaluation), provide feedback to supervisees administering assessments, and compose final evaluation reports upon completion of assessment
  • Provide group counseling/therapy through therapy groups that may include focus on specific mental health issue or need of a particular student group
  • Review and update policy and procedures as necessary for the mental health unit as required by licensure, training guidelines, and state/federal regulations to maintain the highest standard of care
  • Participate in outreach, training, and treatment team activities
  • Participate in various DRES service, education, and research activities as well as division, college, and campus committees
  • Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology
  • One year experience serving functioning as a counselor in a setting serving diverse population
  • One year clinical supervision experience
  • Training, Licenses or Certifications: Required: clinical psychologist license eligible in Illinois. Will be expected to become licensed within 3 months of hire.
  • Note: IDFPR has added clinical psychologist to the comprehensive online regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting and supervising psychological assessments
  • Experience working with international students and/or communities
  • Experience working with disabled individuals in mental health counseling
  • Training, Licenses or Certifications: Preferred: licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong clinical skills, assessment, and report writing are required
  • Must possess demonstrated interest in disability issues

Appointment Information

  • This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis
  • The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date
  • The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
