Principal Software Engineer - Virtual Networking

At least 7 years of experience with C/C++ programming in high-speed packet processing or for high-performance computing/networking systems (eg. optimizing CPU cycles, memory usage, high transaction rates with databases) - Familiarity with network packet processing pipeline (Layer-2 switching, Layer-3 routing, Load balancing, Address translations) preferred. - Experience with Embedded Linux systems is preferred - Understanding of data structures and algorithms and ability to optimize those to support high scale architectures - Working familiarity with network virtualization, network protocols and distributed systems - Strong understanding of IaaS/SaaS concepts and best practices - Demonstrated ability to contribute individually as well as provide direction and mentor others - BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

• Architecture & Design: Lead the design, development, and architecture of OCI's core virtual networking components, such as VNICaaS, load balancers, gateways.
• Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical leader and mentor for engineering teams by driving best practices and performing technical reviews.
• Innovative Solutions: Identify and implement scalable and secure solutions for complex networking challenges, working with cross-functional teams.
• Performance & Reliability: Develop and enhance system reliability, scalability, and maintainability, focusing on high availability and performance of OCI networking services.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, architects, and other engineering teams to deliver customer-focused features and drive end-to-end project execution.
• Incident Response: Provide guidance during critical incidents and post-mortems, contributing to root cause analysis and system improvement.
• Continuous Improvement: Advocate for and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, and processes.
