Principal Electrical Engineer
The Principal Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role as a key technical resource, supporting all phases of new platform development from concept and technology development through commercialization and post-market support. This role involves architecting, designing, selecting, and evaluating critical system components, as well as prototyping, testing, and releasing electronics for needles and consoles to production.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, develop, test, and transfer electromechanical systems and disposables to production for product development activities.
- Create system diagrams, architecture development, component selection, and sub-system design.
- Oversee prototype creation, V&V activities, production tool planning, and design and test fixtures for class 2 medical devices.
- Design electronic architecture, block diagrams, patient isolation designs, and power distribution.
- Select components and processing platforms, oversee schematic entry, layout, and prototype builds and testing.
- Support the transfer to production and research product development solutions.
- Consult and solicit feedback from internal stakeholders to translate customer needs into engineering designs.
- Optimize design based on test results in collaboration with other design engineers.
- Work with external vendors and partners to accelerate product development and testing.
- Develop fixtures and use off-the-shelf equipment to create test environments for evaluating new ablation systems.
- Create related documentation and support materials in conjunction with design and development activities.
Essential Skills:
- B.S. degree in Electrical or related engineering field.
- 10+ years of experience in electronics design and system design for new product development.
- Technical competencies in software-driven electromechanical medical devices, with a strong preference for previous experience with ablation devices.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering design processes and tools, including Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit simulation, and component selection.
- Experience with patient/user safety, power distribution architecture, and design.
- Knowledge of wireless communications technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and RFID.
- Expertise in using spectrum analyzers, high-frequency scopes, and other test instrumentation.
- Hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working in an ISO quality management system is desired.
- Familiarity with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) for IEC compliance is desired.
- Experience designing equipment for MRI compatibility is desired.
- Ability to create clear product design documentation such as concept diagrams, specifications, requirements, and test plans.

Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $100.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
