Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced, self-starting Network Engineer to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Air Commando Training Support (ACTS) contract across our enterprise. The primary function of this role is to organize, install, and maintain discrete classified networks within the Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environment that underpins the AFSOC air-crew training program. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the network architecture, as well as administering network applications and ensuring that network devices are optimized for connectivity and throughput. Coordination with internal and external customers is essential to meet contract objectives and deliverables.
Candidates must be proficient with current versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems—both workstation and server—as well as UNIX/Linux platforms. A strong foundation in networking is required, including a thorough understanding of long-haul circuit connectivity, routers, switches, VLANs, and electronic interfaces in LAN, WAN, and MAN environments. The role also demands knowledge and experience with the installation and routine operation of encryption devices, keying material, and security practices in a classified setting, as well as hands-on experience fabricating network cables and interfaces. A firm understanding of common protocols used in simulation networks is necessary, including TCP/IP, SNMP, Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), and High-Level Architecture (HLA). Experience with circuit-test equipment, network analyzers, and packet sniffers is highly desirable. The ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of entire systems or subsystems in ad-hoc environments—whether working individually or as part of a team—is required. US citizenship is required.
