Production Supervisor / Manufacturing Engineer

This individual will be responsible for overseeing production line during off-shifts, along with a blend of manufacturing engineering responsibilities primarily focusing on continuous improvement activities. They will collaborate with manufacturing and production support leaders to assess performance on the manufacturing floor. This role involves planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of manufacturing activities, as well as leading the distribution of materials and maintaining labor and material requirements to meet daily schedules. The role demands a strong leader with automotive manufacturing experience and availability to support teams during off shifts. Significant portion of the role being hands-on, approximately 70%-80% on the floor.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes, recommending improvements, and expediting material flow.
  • Improve manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages, analyzing delays, and testing new methods.
  • Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries.
  • Communicate production status, requirements, and problems to the next shift to maintain process flow.
  • Comply with terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement to maintain a working relationship with the union.
  • Adhere to organization standards, policies, and legal regulations to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment.
  • Contribute to the success of manufacturing processes and the organization.
  • Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.

Essential Skills:

  • Engineering Degree or strong leadership experience with cross-functional engineering responsibilities.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of assembly or machining processes.
  • Leadership or supervision experience.
  • High level of interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
  • Inclination towards hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.

Work Environment:

The role involves reporting to senior leaders and working within a team of 9, part of a larger group of 35 individuals. Typical 45 hour work week, with the possibility of 50 hours during busy times. The role is predominantly floor-based, involving production support, root cause analysis, and disassembly of products. The position offers 10 days of PTO, 6 standard holidays, and access to Udemy after 6 months. Shifts include:

  • 2nd shift from 2pm-10pm
  • 3rd shift from 10pm-6am
  • With a potential for a 30-minute overlap for shift handoff

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract to hire position based out of Three Rivers, MI. Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
