Food Services Assistant

The Food Services Assistant is responsible for assisting with Food Service and Grocery Store activities. This is a nonexempt position. The Food Services Assistant reports to the Food Services Manager and has the following core responsibilities:

  1. 8:00 am to 12:00 pm working in Grocery Store
    • Stocking shelves
    • Home deliveries
    • Food boxes
  2. 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm working in Kitchen
    • Running dishes through dishwasher
    • Putting away dishes once clean
    • Final clean up in area

The Food Services Assistant assists the Grocery Store Manager with deliveries of groceries to on-campus student housing. They also wash, sanitize, and maintain utensils, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and serving trays. They maintain a high degree of sanitation standards and follow all safe handling and food service requirements, as well as maintain and sanitize the dishwasher and dish room. The Food Services Assistant notifies the Food Service Manager of maintenance issues or any other issues affecting the cafeteria or grocery store functions. They perform other responsibilities as required by the Food Service Manager.

Computer skills preferred. Obtain SERV SAFE certification as required by the Food Service Manager. Valid Drivers License.

Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force. Regularly bends, stoops, crouches, and climbs stairs. Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Uses the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly over time without becoming fatigued. Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.

Expectations of hours worked: At least 40 hours/week. Occasional hours outside of the regular work-week as required by Food Service Manager.
