Environmental Services Technician

The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While executing the assigned responsibilities, the EVS Tech will have contact/interactions with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. Responsible for ensuring timely room turnovers related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The environmental services technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Completing daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
• Demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
• Adhering to all organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
• Actively participating in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintaining cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment.
• Removing waste and transporting to the appropriate disposal area.
• Following all infection prevention practices.
• Recognizing and adhering to patient privacy requirements.
• Identifying and utilizing appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
• Demonstrating knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Operating and properly maintaining all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
• Performing tasks according to the various facility needs.
• Mentoring new Environmental Services Tech I employees.
• Collaborating with others as we are a part of the patient care team.

Required Education: None

Preferred Education/Experience: High School/GED Previous healthcare experience

Required Licensure/Certification: None

Overview: $1500 Sign On Bonus

The Woodlands Hospital a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women's services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children's Hospital.

Pay Range: $12.00 - $13.41 /hour
