Job Description

Shift Details: Mon-Fri 8am-4p

Pay Rate: $16/hr

Elwyn seeks an Adult Day Instructor to provide supervision, guidance, instruction, and/or skill building to assigned individuals served within a specific program site regarding daily living activities, safety, community inclusion, and interaction with others. Essential functions include:

• Maintains all levels of supervision for assigned persons served at specific program site.
• Supervises, instructs, supports and provides guidance to assigned persons served in accordance with the individual's support plan.
• Follows medical guidelines to administer medication as scheduled or as needed to persons served.
• Strictly follows physicians' orders for diet protocols and any other medical treatment orders.
• Prepares for, and promptly responds to, emergency situations.
• Completes paperwork and maintains all documentation as required.
• Provides support to individuals while engaged in community activities.
• Ensures the program site operates in accordance with the organization's quality standards.
• Assists in the resolution of problematic situations.
• Maintains adequate levels of classroom supplies.
• Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process.
• Reports all incidents as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

One (1) year experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred. Demonstrated strong attention to detail. Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision. Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally. Ability to perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, medication administration and crisis intervention techniques according to agency trained protocols. Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record.
