The Classroom Support Technician is an on-premises position providing specialized technical support and other service-related activities relative to the design, performance, upkeep, and use of presentation technologies systems in over 110 classroom and other mediated spaces on campus. This position directly supports the academic mission of the university. Provide advanced design and technical consultation services to faculty, staff, and students related to specific high-level audio and video applications, services, and devices used in support of the university's academic mission. Use judgment in determining work priorities, solving problems, and applying solutions with limited guidance. Work independently and without direct supervision implementing solutions to complex audio and video capture, recording, and streaming problems and requests using networked hardware devices and software. Independently perform analysis of complex technical issues, apply solutions and fixes, and monitor operation/performance of classroom presentation technology to maximize campus-wide system integrity. Design and develop coherent, user-friendly systems that meet the needs of various teaching modalities – including hybrid and active learning styles – including the programming of devices, that are in line with and meet industry standards. Duties and activities will vary over the course of the year and will be contingent upon the academic class schedule. Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience): Bachelor's degree and three year's experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and installing AV/IT presentation systems and applications, preferably in an academic setting. Experience with AV remote management software and tools. Experience in designing, installing, and integrating AV presentation technologies in a complex networked infrastructure, preferably in a university environment. Familiarity and experience with the major manufacturers of presentation systems and applications. Completion of professional development certification programs for presentation systems. Desirable Qualifications: Background Check required for this position. A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required. FLSA Exempt. Union Position: Yes, UVMSU.
