Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer primarily works on Engineered-to-Order (ETO) design projects to meet customer requirements in a team environment. These designs will typically be Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Power Distribution Cabinets, and Power Switching Cabinets for use in data centers. Will be required to meet project goals such as schedule, manufacturability, and cost. This position will consist of creating designs, drawings, bills of material, and processing Engineering Change Orders.
Responsibilities and Measurement Criteria with Time Investment Needed on Each:
- Create 3D models using sheet metal and part modeling functionality in CAD
- Create complex drawings and bills of material for sheet metal, bus bar, and assemblies.
- Write, submit, release Engineering changes to new and released product documentation in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database using our revision control system.
- Work with cross functional groups with the same goals for the project.
- Ability to interpret agency design standards (Such as UL) for our products.
- Create order list for prototype units and ensure material is received with Project Managers.
- Work with ETO Engineering Supervisor for task lists and priorities.
- Interact with ETO team members to efficiently breakdown tasks, discuss design ideas, and work through issues.
- Occasional contact with outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
- General knowledge of single and three phase power.
- Able to interpret schematics with electrical components such as fuses and circuit breakers.
- Error proofing through Poke-Yoke activities.
- Cost reduction activities through VAVE activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR
- Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience OR
- High School Diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Must have good planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills.
- Must be team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proven experience working with Solidedge, Creo or similar 3D CAD is a must with sheet metal experience.
- Proficient in reading and/or redlining schematics and single-line diagrams.
- Oracle PLM experience is a plus.
- Simulation (FEA) experience is a plus (ANSYS, thermal/airflow)
- Proven ability to read schematics and single line diagrams.
- Proven experience working with PLM systems (BOM and Engineering Change Order management)
- Preferred experience with UL requirements.
- Preferred experience in NEC requirements, including but not limited to wire sizing, bus bar sizing, bend radius, and conduit sizing.
Physical & Environmental Requirements: To be used majorly for manufacturing jobs.
