The German Department at Middlebury College invites applications for a full-time, three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning August 2026. We seek a versatile and inspiring teacher with a strong record of excellence in teaching German language, literature, and culture at all levels. Candidates should also bring expertise in one or more of the following areas: 18th-century literature, art, and thought, gender studies, film and media studies, visual culture. In addition to teaching during the College’s regular terms in fall and spring, the successful candidate is expected to teach during the College’s special Winter term and to contribute to the College’s general course offerings in English, when applicable. This is a three-year, non-renewable appointment. The salary range for this position is $92,577 - $96,355.
