Robotics Applications Engineer
GlobalFoundries Fab 9 in Essex Junction, Vermont has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Robotics Applications engineer to join our 200mm wafer semiconductor factory (fab) automation team. As a technical leader for factory automation projects at Fab 9, you will play a key role in transforming legacy fab operations for automation. Your responsibilities will focus on scaling and optimizing the performance of a highly innovative mobile robot deployment program in a high-volume manufacturing environment. A successful candidate will have extreme attention to detail to prevent unintended changes or process variations, strong cross-functional engagement and commitment to continuous improvement. We are seeking a passionate engineer who can lead and deliver complex engineering projects, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for deployment/commissioning of an expanding fleet of mobile robots performing semiconductor manufacturing operations in an existing fab, converting manual (human) operation to automated operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, integrate, deploy and optimize the performance of robotic systems, including process and equipment engineering, IT and facilities engineering.
- Engage with external suppliers (eg. Equipment OEMs) and partners to evaluate, select and deploy automation solutions, troubleshoot and continuously improve operational performance.
- Lead the integration of overall capability roadmap and requirements specification in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, factory automation team, and suppliers.
- Contribute to and engage in continuous improvement efforts to enhance systems, procedures, equipment availability, utilization, cycle time, cost, etc.
- Create and modify existing training material and procedures, providing first class reference material for peers and internal customers.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:
- Education - BS degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Robotics Engineering, IT/CompSci, or a similar discipline.
- Experience - 6+ years industry experience with factory automation/robotics integration.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in equipment data retrieval and analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to describe complex problems, clearly aligning key stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter, capable of leading and managing complex problems and projects - resourceful, creative and innovative in developing solutions to resolve issues.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing complex projects.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, demonstrated excellence collaborating on and across teams.
- Fluent in English language (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Robotics Engineering, IT/CompSci, or a similar discipline.
- 5+ years industry experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Understanding of/experience with semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience commissioning, debugging and improving collaborative mobile robots.
- Proficiency with data analytical/statistical tools such as JMP, Excel/Pivot Tables, etc.
- Knowledge of PLC and robotic program methods and principles.
- Knowledge of SECS/GEM protocols.
Expected Salary Range $94,300.00 - $175,100.00. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
