Director, Transportation Execution Services

Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning. Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes. Reporting to the Vice President, Transportation, the Director, Transportation Execution Services is a strategic and operational leader responsible for managing all transportation movement within the Pharmaceutical & Specialty Solutions (PSS) segment. This role drives mode management, service optimization, and delivery excellence across multiple business units. As a key member of the Transportation leadership team, the Director leads the development and execution of transportation strategies, fosters innovation, and implements best practices to enhance performance and customer satisfaction. This role will also lead customer meetings with senior leaders from our key customers. Interested candidates must be willing to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 33 transportation professionals, including hiring, performance management, and goal setting. Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all inbound and outbound transportation coordination for: National Logistics Center (NLC), Consumer Health Logistics Center (CHLC), First Mile operations, Forward Distribution Centers (FDCs) across East, Central, and Channel regions (25 buildings), Specialty distribution operations, Manage 230 depots, 45 carriers, and 45,000 daily deliveries
  • Ensure freight flows on-time and efficiently across all modes and regions.
  • Manage trailer utilization, mode and route optimization, and fleet revenue generation.
  • Identify and execute backhaul and continuous move opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee Courier Hub operations and ensure alignment with service expectations.
  • Manage carrier performance through quarterly business reviews (QBRs), scorecards, and recognition programs.
  • Ensure service level agreement (SLA) attainment across all transportation partners.
  • Provide transportation-related customer service and support, including corrective actions and special requests.
  • Engage with customers as needed, while site leaders maintain primary operational relationships.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with business goals and customer needs.
  • Introduce best practices and innovative solutions to enhance transportation performance and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Transpiration or Logistics leadership roles, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Advanced degree, preferred
  • Proven success in managing complex transportation networks and leading large teams.
  • Experience leading distribution center operations preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare distribution is a plus.
  • Travel availability: 25%

Anticipated salary range: $105,600-188,500
