Public Health Services District Director I - White River Junction

The Vermont Department of Health is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead our interdisciplinary team in the White River Junction District Office. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion, or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Duties primarily performed in public health organization setting or in the community with predictable need for travel to numerous meetings, both local and statewide. Private means of transportation must be available. Possible travel in difficult weather conditions.

There is considerable interaction with staff, community partners, and the public. At times of public health emergencies (floods, infectious disease outbreaks, etc.) individuals may be expected to assist. Work outside of normal office hours is often necessary. Program issues may require difficult choices among resources available and district needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher in public health, public administration, nursing, or a closely related field AND four (4) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, health education, nursing, or a human services field, INCLUDING two (2) years in management, administration or program planning AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory role of staff and operations.

Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, nursing, or a closely related field AND six (6) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, health education, nursing, or a human services field, INCLUDING two (2) years or more in management, administration or program planning AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory role of staff and operations.
