This Senior Family Services Worker role with the Central Intake & Emergency Services Unit (CIES) is a part-time, job-share position. CIES operates Vermont's statewide child protection hotline, which runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. The schedule will be discussed during interviews, but it will include one weekend shift each week (Saturday or Sunday), a Friday 4 p.m.–12 a.m. shift, and one weekday day shift. After the initial training period, the position offers a hybrid schedule with eligibility for at least one remote workday per week.
CIES is the State of Vermont's system for receiving child abuse and neglect reports and managing after-hours emergencies involving child safety, children in state custody, delinquency, and youth whose behaviors are beyond their caregivers' control.

Duties are performed largely in an office setting although some field travel will be necessary, for which private means of transportation must be available. Occasional court appearance relative to program client needs/status may be required. Although duties normally occur within a regular weekday schedule, some evening and weekend duty may be necessary to provide necessary service and/or emergency coverage.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work AND one (1) year of casework services with a child protective or juvenile services caseload.
OR
Bachelor's degree or higher AND three (3) years of casework services with a child protective or juvenile services caseload.
OR
Completion of a Family Services Worker Traineeship in the Department for Children and Families AND three (3) years of casework services with a child protective or juvenile services caseload.
Note: Casework services means client intake, assessment, plan development, and follow-through in a social services delivery system.
